Dear Democrats,

Republicans are holding Americans’ healthcare and food assistance hostage, telling the people “No food for you unless you let us rip away your healthcare.” It should go without saying, but Democrats don’t believe that our government should rob people of their food or health. 

That's why New Mexico Democrats are stepping for our families. We could not be more proud that Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced alongside Democratic state legislators $30 million worth of food relief for impacted New Mexican SNAP recipients.

We’re going to continue fighting for New Mexico’s working families, but we need support from Democrats like you to sustain our work fighting for healthcare and food assistance. Tonight is an important end of the month deadline and unfortunately, fundraising has been terrible for the Democratic Party from the top down. The blunt truth is that we need to step up our game if the Democratic Party is to have a chance in the future. Please chip in any amount you can today before our end of the month deadline so we can continue to fight for food assistance and healthcare. 

Once again, NM Democrats deliver for our families, setting an example of good government for the rest of the country. As Donald Trump refuses to utilize emergency food assistance funds and congressional Republicans refuse to even show up to do their jobs in Washington, New Mexico Democrats are proving that we prioritize the everyday New Mexicans who have to worry about putting food on the table. Although SNAP is a federally funded program, NM Democrats are exemplifying our Party values as we fight to make sure that families won’t have to go hungry as cruel Republicans play partisan games with their livelihoods. 

We also appreciate NM Senate Democrats and NM House Democrats for demanding that Trump’s USDA stop refusing to utilize emergency funds set aside for food assistance, and Attorney General Raúl Torrez for joining a lawsuit against the Trump Administration over their refusal to release these emergency funds. DPNM is also proud of our Democratic federal delegation for leading the fight to keep SNAP funded.

As Democrats, we’re appalled that Republicans use hungry children as a bargaining chip to rip healthcare away from millions. But we still have more than three years left of this presidency, and have to be prepared for countless more battles. We can’t scale back - we need people like YOU to step up.
