Greetings!

I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap of what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives.

Happy Halloween! Today, October 31st, marks one full month of the Democrat Government Shutdown.

Chuck Schumer and Democrats in the Senate continue to refuse to vote to reopen the government and do right by the American people. Instead, they continue to cater to the far Left by pushing their radical agenda that comes with a frightening price tag of $1.5 trillion in new spending to fund healthcare for illegal aliens, prop up left-wing propaganda machines, and woke programs in foreign countries.

Chuck Schumer and his Democrats colleagues’ political games are causing the American people pain and suffering—which they see as “leverage” for their radical agenda.

Here’s the scary reality that hardworking Americans are facing:

  • As of November 1, 2025, over 40 million Americans will be denied SNAP benefits. I fought to avoid this pain. On September 19, 2025, I voted to pass the clean continuing resolution to keep the government open and fully fund benefits like SNAP. If you or your family needs food immediately, please see this list from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).
  • Just this week, over 20,000 flights have been delayed or cancelled. As Chairman of the House Aviation Subcommittee, I’ve spoken directly with air traffic controllers who are exhausted, frustrated, and worried about how they’ll support their families after receiving a $0 paycheck on Tuesday, October 28. With the holiday season approaching, millions of Americans will depend on these controllers to operate our airspace and keep our skies safe. The American people deserve peace of mind when they travel, not delays and cancellations created by the Democrat-led shutdown.
  • Civilian federal employees are missing the paychecks they rightfully deserve, creating unnecessary financial hardship and stress for families across the country. Just in Texas alone, 218,000 federal workers have been furloughed or are working without pay.

On September 19, 2025, I voted to fund the government and to avoid the real pain that Americans are now experiencing. Democrats have repeatedly proven they care more about giving free, taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal aliens than they do about taking care of We the People.

While Democrats continue to ghost their responsibility to the American people, my office remains open to serve the people of Texas’s 22nd Congressional District. Please don’t hesitate to contact my DC or Fulshear office to learn more about the shutdown or if you need assistance with a federal agency. We are here to serve you.

Resources for Hurricane Season

Being well-prepared for hurricanes and other natural disasters is crucial to protecting your family and minimizing disruption to daily life. Federal resources, such as those provided by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Ready.gov, offer valuable guidance, including emergency alerts, disaster planning tools, and response checklists tailored to individual and family needs.

As hurricane season approaches, staying proactive can make a significant difference. Monitor trusted sources like the National Hurricane Center for real-time updates and establish a comprehensive emergency plan that covers evacuation routes, family communication, and essential supplies. It’s also wise to prepare your home by securing outdoor items, reinforcing windows and doors, and reviewing your insurance policies—especially for those in coastal or flood-prone areas.

For further assistance, FEMA’s Resource Library for Individual Assistance provides clear information on disaster support services, how assistance works, and what steps to take after applying. If you’ve already submitted a claim, visit I Applied for Assistance. What's Next? on FEMA.gov for guidance on next steps.

Be sure to check out my website for further local and state resources on how to prepare for a natural disaster.

If you have any questions or need support, please contact Congressman Nehls’ Fulshear District Office at (346) 662-6600. Our office is here to assist you throughout this hurricane season.

What's scarier: The fact that Democrats want to give taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal aliens, give $500 million to prop up liberal news organizations PBS and NPR, hand out billions for woke projects in foreign countries, or that Democrats want to cut rural healthcare investments?
