Dear Friend,

Forty-two million Americans depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to feed their families. With the government shut down and funding for the program running out, it is the Trump Administration’s job to activate the $5 billion in SNAP’s contingency fund to ensure food assistance is available for those in need.

I signed onto a letter with 213 of my House Democratic colleagues to urge U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to use these funds over the next few weeks.

Trump and Republicans shut down the government, and now they won’t do what needs to be done to ensure millions of seniors, veterans, children, and people with disabilities receive food assistance next month. Taking food from seniors and kids isn't a budget strategy; it’s just plain cruel.

I don’t want a single family to go hungry next month, which is why I’m working around the clock to reopen the government and protect your healthcare. If you or someone you know needs food assistance during this time, please click the links below to access resources.

Even during this shutdown, my office is open and ready to help you. Please visit the government shutdown resources webpage on my website for more information.
