Friend,
It’s clear the system is fundamentally broken, and under one-party rule, the redistricting amendments we passed in 2015 and 2018 lack any real accountability to the intent of the voters who have repeatedly demanded fair districts.
Once again, a failure to produce fair maps demonstrates that we must go back to the ballot to ensure people, not politicians, are in charge of drawing Ohio’s maps, no matter which party controls state government in the future.
The voices of voters continue to be diminished when every lever of accountability in our redistricting, referendum, and ballot initiate processes is controlled by Republicans who hold these levers hostage to partisanship, refuse to honestly negotiate, and repeatedly ignore the requirements of the Ohio Constitution.
Voters will have an opportunity in 2026 to choose checks-and-balances in key statewide offices and Ohio Supreme Court seats.
In Washington and Columbus, the dangers of unbalanced, one-party rule have never been more evident.
