Starting November 1, millions of Americans could lose access to food assistance because Republicans in Congress are holding the government hostage in an attempt to cut health care and other vital programs.  

Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture is refusing to release up to $5 billion in contingency funds – money that could keep food on families' tables during the crisis. 

More than 40 million Americans, including 16 million children, rely on SNAP to survive. Freezing this program will mean empty cupboards and skipped meals for countless families.
