John,
The cultural problem of abortion is directly tied to cultural problems with marriage.
At Live Action, we are driven by a passion to change and save lives. Data is what equips us to make meaningful changes in the culture.
The latest CDC data tells us that 87% of women who get abortions are unmarried.
The implications of this number are huge. If we take a moment to think about it, it’s not surprising that women who do not have the security of mutual commitment with their child’s father turn to the normalized “option” of abortion.
God’s design is that children have a mother and father. Abortion shatters the beauty of family.
While pursuing slavery abolition, William Wilberforce famously said, “You may choose to look the other way, but you can never again say that you did not know.”
We’ve seen. We know. And we’re not looking away.
Those of us who know abortion is a violent act of murder have an obligation to spread that truth with as much love and compassion as possible, without compromising boldness.
And, while we must address immediate needs, such as women considering abortion right now, we must look upstream to identify the root of the problem. Only then can we begin to heal our cultural wounds instead of only applying a band-aid.
This is why Live Action is working on building college and church outreach resources.
With the financial support of loving friends like you, we will not only equip existing pro-life college and church groups with resources, but we will also empower individuals to establish new ones.
Our matching campaign ends tomorrow, and we have not yet reached our goal of 500 new Life Defenders (monthly donors), which is necessary to commission these new initiatives. Will you consider a monthly commitment today? Only through tomorrow, your first monthly gift will be TRIPLED: give.liveaction.org/monthly-donor-campaign
John, I’m sure you’ve experienced this truth: Nothing compares to in-person accompaniment.
Pregnancy and child-rearing can be a daunting experience, even with a loving and supportive husband. Yet many women are getting pregnant without that stable, masculine presence and with no close friends to help.
We must remember fathers. Sometimes a man is excited to learn he is a father, only to be devastated that the mother is having their child killed via abortion, blocking him out of the picture.
The abortion industry feeds off of this isolation and fear.
But we can provide hope. We must help people see that abortion solves nothing. With your support, we will grow our staff and develop curricula to advance our mission through college campuses and churches across the country.
We’re training and equipping college students to share the truth about abortion, the importance of marriage and family, and the beauty of life before it’s too late.
Churches will have the resources to enable pastors and congregants to speak boldly about the evil of abortion while simultaneously being a safe presence of forgiveness and healing for those already burdened by abortion.
Together, we will instigate a wave of community, courage, and accompaniment across the nation.
The biggest obstacle right now is that launching these programs requires your ongoing support.
Will you join us as a Life Defender and have your first monthly gift matched today? I can’t thank you enough: give.liveaction.org/monthly-donor-campaign
