Next year, the Supreme Court could review several important gun cases that could influence the future of the Second Amendment. These decisions would have a ripple effect far beyond the courtroom.
ASA General Counsel Michael Williams comments, “If you look holistically at what they’ve decided to take and not take, they seem to be going in this direction of staying away, for now, from hardware questions… So what technology is covered by the Second Amendment?”
2025 brought a wave of wins for ASA and the Second Amendment community, and we’re still going! ASA was instrumental in reducing transfer times. We have two active lawsuits to dismantle the NFA that could eventually reach the Supreme Court, along with two additional lawsuits to overturn state-level bans on suppressor ownership. We were successful in getting NFA examiners back to work during the government shutdown. We legalized suppressor ownership in Guam, and, last but certainly not least, we led the charge to reduce the NFA transfer tax on suppressors to $0, effective January 1st.
