Dear Fellow American,
Your Judicial Watch is leading the charge to
clean up a rampant threat to fair and honest elections:
Dirty
voter rolls.
Consider Oregon, where 35 of its 36
counties (and the state as a whole) report more registered voters than
actual living, eligible voting-age residents.
The
rolls are bloated with the names of the deceased and those who have moved
away.
It’s illegal. The National Voter
Registration Act (NVRA) requires “a general program that makes a
reasonable effort to remove” from voter rolls “the names of
ineligible voters.” And 29 of the 36 Oregon counties have removed
almost zero ineligible names.
So we’ve taken legal
action and sued the State of Oregon under provisions of the National Voter
Registration Act (Judicial Watch, et al. v. The State of Oregon et
al.).
And just recently, a federal court ruled that our lawsuit
can proceed.
We know litigation like this works:
- In Ohio, we secured a landmark settlement in 2014 requiring the state
to adopt rigorous list-maintenance under the NVRA.
- Our Pennsylvania lawsuit led to the removal of over 178,258 ineligible
registrations in 2023 and a legal settlement enforcing compliance for five
years.
- We forced New York City to pare 918,139 outdated registrations from its
records since our 2022 legal action against them.
- And in Los Angeles County, legal pressure from Judicial Watch forced
the removal of 1.2 million ineligible voters from the rolls.
Across the country,Judicial Watch’s combined
litigation and investigations have driven the removal of over 5 million
outdated registrations from voter rolls in these and several other
states.
Why does this matter?
Because
dirty voter rolls can mean dirty elections.
Judicial
Watch has built the strongest conservative election-law team in the
country. . And we rely on the gifts of our supporters like you to
fuel these efforts. . Not just in Oregon, but wherever else the
law is being broken.
We WILL be suing more states with dirty
voter rolls…funds permitting. Please consider making a generous
first-time contribution to support this work and all our work fighting
government corruption.
Thank you for supporting our work, and considering a gift to help us
clean up voter rolls and preserve honest elections.
Sincerely,
Thomas Fitton
President, Judicial Watch
P.S. Oregon is just one of several states where Judicial Watch has
active voter roll cleanup litigation, including California and Illinois.
And my team is preparing legal actions in other states as we speak. Please
make a gift now to support this critical work..
