The shutdown has stretched into a fifth week – and while Congress stalls, families in Washington are getting slammed with devastating news.
In seven counties east of the Cascades, health insurance premiums are set to more than double next year for people buying coverage through the Affordable Care Act marketplace. And across the state, Washingtonians logging onto Healthplanfinder this week are already seeing sky-high rates for next year’s plans.
This isn’t hypothetical. It’s happening right now. Families are being forced to decide whether to pay thousands more for the same coverage, accept worse plans, or go without insurance altogether.
And while people struggle to afford groceries, housing, and electricity, Senate Republicans are blocking action to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits – the very relief that could stop these hikes.
I’m fighting to block these ruinous increases and reopen the government, but we’re running out of time before open enrollment begins and these rate hikes become locked in.
If you agree that healthcare should never be a partisan issue, add your name now to demand Republicans act before it’s too late → [[link removed]]ADD YOUR NAME [[link removed]]
I won’t back down while working families, seniors, and small businesses face higher costs because of GOP obstruction. Together, we can make sure Washingtonians keep the affordable coverage they’ve earned.
