John,

Working people have the most to lose when confronting the corporate greed destroying our communities, jobs, and futures. Despite being battered and bruised, they’re the first to feed our neighbors when institutional safety nets are threatened, the last to leave the picket line, and the leaders who will find the solutions out of this manufactured crisis fueled by profiteers.

This is where the seeds of our movement take root, nourishing the needs of our most vulnerable when it matters the most. As millions of families face food and healthcare insecurity, massive layoffs, and even active federal occupations, workers continue to fight because solidarity not only cultivates hope, it strengthens our resolve to bargain for the common good.

As the government shutdown drags into its 29th day, federal workers are working without pay or completely shut out of their work. All while being threatened with more layoffs. We urge you to support federal workers not only working to care for one another, but their communities.

Ways to support:

TODAY 10/30 @ 3PM

The People’s Pantry:

While Trump Builds a Ballroom, We Feed the People

Fired federal workers will gather outside USDA Headquarters today from 3 to 5 PM to collect food for families in need and demand the release of $6 billion in emergency SNAP funds that remain frozen.

The People’s Pantry: While Trump Builds a Ballroom, We Feed the People will feature a speaking program with Members of Congress, faith leaders, food bank representatives, and federal employees continuing to serve the public, even while unpaid.

Organizers are asking for the public to donate food items in person, as listed by the Arlington Food Assistance Center or to contribute online monetary donations directly to the Capital Area Food Bank and the Montgomery County Manna Food Bank.

$15k by Friday: Support the People’s Pantry in the DMV

The People’s Pantry is a furloughed, federal worker-led food distribution initiative organized by the DMV Federal Unionists Network and sponsors. As the Trump Administration blocks emergency SNAP funds and dismantles public services, federal workers are living their oath to serve — by feeding the families and neighbors that this Administration has abandoned. Donate here to help them meet their goal of $15k by Friday.

In solidarity & gratitude,

Mackenzie Baris
