Due to the inaction of the Republican House majority, SNAP funding is about to lapse, leaving millions of vulnerable families hungry.
42 million children and families are at risk of experiencing hunger without the safety net that SNAP provides. That is why I lead 213 Democrats in the House in our call to the USDA to use reserve dollars to fill the gap and fund SNAP while Republicans have shut down the government.
Household groceries are hitting record highs, and many people who rely on SNAP benefits to keep food on the table and make ends meet will suffer. Without funding this program, many families will be forced to make tough decisions between utilities and groceries — a decision that could be deadly as we enter into the winter months.
I am fighting day in and day out to urge this administration and the Republican majority to meet the needs of the American people and put people over party and over politics. Before my end-of-month fundraising deadline, please pitch in to help me keep up the fight.
We can, and must, do more to stand up for working families. Thanks for your support.
