Dear John,
Hundreds of thousands of federal workers are now either working without pay, or locked out of their jobs entirely — all while rent, mortgage, and car payments pile up. These workers are not the ones playing politics, but they’re the ones paying the price. Every missed paycheck can bring them closer to eviction, foreclosure, or other forms of financial ruin.
Now, as the shutdown drags on, federal workers are bearing the brunt — and when they suffer, it weakens the Democrats’ ability to hold the line against Republican tactics. Supporting federal employees is the right thing to do — and it’s also essential to making sure Democrats don’t get forced into a bad deal that hurts everyone.
Tell Congress: Pass the Federal Employee Civil Relief Act and protect federal workers from evictions, foreclosures, and more during the shutdown!
These are the people who keep our country running — the workers who deliver Social Security checks, monitor the safety of our water, and inspect the food we eat. When they’re forced to the brink, it doesn’t just hurt their families — it erodes our shared strength, and makes it easier for extremists to pressure Democrats into giving in.
The Federal Employee Civil Relief Act would prevent the worst of those financial consequences. It would protect federal workers from eviction, foreclosure, car repossession, credit damage, loss of health insurance, student loan repayment penalties, and more — throughout the shutdown and for 30 days after it ends.
Standing with federal workers means standing strong against shutdown blackmail.
Demand Congress pass the Federal Employee Civil Relief Act now, to protect federal workers when they need the support.
Thank you for supporting federal workers, and helping Democrats stick to their principles.
