John,
Donald Trump’s latest nominee for U.S. Surgeon General, Casey Means, is not a practicing physician, not licensed to treat patients, and not qualified to lead America’s public health system. Instead, she is a wellness influencer with a long record of pseudoscientific claims, anti-vaccine rhetoric, and clear conflicts of interest that put profit over people.
Means has spread false claims about birth control and autism and amplified conspiracy theories about mainstream nutrition science. At the same time, she has built and profited from businesses that sell the very untested products she promotes, raising serious ethical concerns about her ability to act in the public interest.
Her lack of an active medical license, her decision to leave her surgical residency unfinished, and her total absence of public health or leadership experience make her entirely unfit to oversee a corps of 6,000 public health professionals. The Surgeon General’s office must be grounded in science and experience, not self-promotion and pseudoscience.
If confirmed, Casey Means would have immense influence over vaccine communications, health education, and disease prevention efforts across the country. Her history of amplifying anti-vax rhetoric and her alignment with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s conspiracy-driven agenda would put countless lives at risk and erode public confidence in science at a time when it is needed most.
Tell the Senate to Vote NO on Casey Means’ nomination for U.S. Surgeon General and protect public health from misinformation and unqualified leadership.
Confirming Casey Means would be a dangerous step backward for public health. Her track record shows a disregard for scientific evidence, a willingness to spread misinformation, and a pattern of behavior that undermines the credibility of medicine itself. Allowing someone who profits from medical falsehoods to lead national health communication efforts is a recipe for disaster.
Over thirty leading health, science, and consumer organizations have already urged the Senate to reject her nomination. They are right to be alarmed. Public health is not a platform for conspiracy theories or personal enrichment; it is a solemn duty to protect and inform the American people.
Every Senator must understand that confirming Casey Means would legitimize pseudoscience at the highest level of government. The Surgeon General must be a guardian of truth, not a messenger for misinformation.
Demand that the Senate reject Casey Means’ nomination for U.S. Surgeon General and defend the integrity of science, evidence, and public health for all Americans.
Together, we can stop this dangerous nomination and ensure that the nation’s top doctor represents science, not superstition.
