This is an email about corruption — and because Donald Trump and the Republican Party are the ones in power right now, it’s pretty damn long. I hope you’ll take a moment to read the whole thing, but if you’re in a hurry, and you already know about my work to clean up our government, can you chip in a grassroots donation to help Team Pettersen take on all the challenges ahead of us?

I want to be candid with you: It wasn’t exactly a surprise to me when Donald Trump stuffed his administration — and the Republican Party as a whole — with some of the most corrupt, morally bankrupt individuals in the country.

What is surprising? They’re not even trying to hide it this time around.

It’s all out in the open now: $400 million private jets from foreign governments. Shady crypto scam after shady crypto scam. House Republicans selling off Medicaid-related stocks just days before voting to gut the program.

Now, Trump even wants the Department of Justice to pay him $230 million in taxpayer money as compensation for… the federal investigations his own actions brought upon himself.

The Republican Party’s response? Don’t believe it. Ignore the fact that they’re making millions, all while your family is paying more and more for housing, health care, and groceries.

It’s disgraceful. Some of the wealthiest, most powerful politicians in the world are raking in millions — then turning right around and opposing basic legislation to help working families, like paid family leave or a minimum wage increase.

And I’m through with it.

That’s why I’ve been one of the loudest, most outspoken voices in Congress to clean up our government and finally hold corrupt politicians accountable. For years, I’ve pushed for a ban on individual stock trading in Congress — before it was blocked by the Republican majority. I even introduced a bill to protect Americans from deep fake scams — before it was blocked by the Republican majority.

Notice a pattern?

This Republican majority is doing everything in its power to shield Trump from accountability, protect the status quo, and continue stuffing their own bank accounts at the expense of the rest of us. We can’t let this become our new normal.

We need a complete reset in our government — and we can only do that by kicking this Republican majority to the curb next year.
