As Republicans continue to play political games that keep the government closed, I am focused on serving South Texans and ensuring families, seniors, and veterans continue to get the help they need. My district offices remain open to assist with casework, answer questions, and help families access critical services like Social Security, Medicare, and veterans’ assistance.
In Washington, I'm continuing to work to protect our communities from the effects of this shutdown. I co-sponsored H.R. 247, the Healthcare Affordability Act, which would permanently renew the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits that make health insurance more affordable. I also co-sponsored legislation to reimburse states for WIC funding shortfalls during a government shutdown, protect furloughed employees from being fired, and to reverse the $1.1 trillion in Medicaid and ACC cuts from the, "One Big, Ugly Bill."
Rest assured that I will continue to fight and protect essential services, strengthen our local economies, and make sure no South Texan is left behind during this Republican shutdown.

Port of Corpus Christi's 2025 State of the Port Address
I was honored to join the Port of Corpus Christi and the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce for the 2025 State of the Port Address. Together, we discussed the Port’s continued leadership in driving economic growth, trade, and energy innovation for South Texas. The Port of Corpus Christi is one of our region’s greatest economic engines, supporting thousands of good-paying jobs, strengthening our supply chains, and making South Texas global leader in energy exports.
I look forward to continuing to support strategic infrastructure investments to create opportunities for hardworking South Texans.
