In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to chip in a few dollars to support my re-election campaign ahead of Friday night’s critical fundraising deadline. [[link removed]] But before I do, I want to share a bit with you about where I come from and the mission I’ve brought to Washington.

I’m the proud son of Korean immigrants. In 1972, my parents came to the United States in search of their American Dream – to build a better life for themselves and their children. It wasn’t always easy for them, but they persevered. And I’m forever grateful for their sacrifices.

I’ve dedicated my life to public service. After I graduated law school, I was given a choice: Take a high-paying job on Wall Street, or prosecute corporate fraud at the SEC. I chose public service — where I stood tall for the little guy against some of the most powerful institutions in the world.

Soon, I ran for office myself to advance the values Donald Trump worked so hard to tear down. In 2020, I ran for State Senate in a district that had never been represented by a Democrat. And I won. In Sacramento, I helped pass legislation to ban gun shows on California state property, authored legislation to end offshore oil drilling, protected survivors of domestic violence, and so much more.

Now, I’m taking those fights nationwide. Last year, I won in one of the most competitive Congressional districts in the entire country — and since I arrived in Washington, I’ve hit the ground running. I’ve introduced bills to keep unelected billionaires away from power, ban individual stock trading by members of Congress, and so much more.

Over the coming months, you’re going to hear some nasty attacks against me coming from MAGA Republicans and all their super PAC friends. So let me set the record straight, right here, right now: I’m proud of my background. I ’m proud of my record. And no amount of right-wing attacks will ever make me run away from who I am.
