As you know, it’s my job to make sure we stay on top of our monthly online fundraising goals. And while we just finished a successful quarter in September, there are a few reasons why we can’t slow down:

• Thanks to his deep-pocket allies, our Republican opponent was the highest-raising GOP challenger in the country earlier this year. We expect the full force of the GOP machine to rally behind him – and we’re already seeing their paid ads on the airwaves trying to smear Mike.


• Californians will vote on new congressional maps in less than one week. If redistricting passes, thousands of new voters will be added into our district. We need to prepare quickly to increase our outreach program and ensure CA-49 stays blue.


• House Republicans are proving exactly why they can’t lead. We’re almost a month into the government shutdown, and despite efforts from Mike and other Democrats, the GOP refuses to come to the table and fund healthcare for millions at risk of losing it or facing devastating hikes to premiums.
