In a strong effort to promote community-centered economic opportunity, Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava recently toured small businesses in Miami-Dade County that actively employ individuals with disabilities. The event, held on Saturday, October 18th, is part of the Mayor’s broader vision of creating an economy that works for everyone, including neighbors with disabilities.

Today, Google.org – the company’s philanthropic program – announced $2 million in​ funding to​ Miami Dade College (MDC) to grow the National Applied Artificial Intelligence Consortium (NAAIC), an MDC-led collaboration with Houston Community College (HCC) and Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) to foster the growth of AI professionals across the nation.

Members of the community joined hospital leaders, physicians and patients for the ribbon cutting of the state-of-the-art Nicklaus Children’s Orthopedic, Sports Medicine and Spine Institute. The new space, located on the third floor of the George E. Batchelor Research and Academic Pavilion boasts 19,000 square feet and features expanded treatment areas designed with patient and family comfort in mind. This new location houses an imaging suite with an EOSedge imaging system, two x-ray machines, 18 exam rooms, cast rooms and meeting spaces.
