October is National Bullying Prevention Month — a time to renew our commitment to safe, inclusive spaces for every LGBTQ+ young person. In that spirit, we’re pleased to share our latest research brief: Anti‑Bullying Policies in School and LGBTQ+ Young People.
Our research shows that inclusive anti-bullying policies in schools can make a life-saving difference for LGBTQ+ students.
Bullying remains disproportionately high for LGBTQ+ students, and these data show that inclusive policy matters. Schools that explicitly protect against anti-LGBTQ+ bullying are linked to stronger feelings of affirmation, lower bullying rates, and lower suicide-attempt rates.

These findings reinforce what we see every day at The Trevor Project: LGBTQ+ young people need safe and welcoming spaces where they feel seen, supported, and connected. Whether online or through our 24/7 crisis services, we’re here to meet young people where they are — offering life-saving support, fostering community, and working to build a world where every LGBTQ+ young person can live and thrive.
Support from individuals like you enables The Trevor Project to continue our work to end LGBTQ+ youth suicide through our crisis services as well as the development of resources and guides like these to promote education and allyship.
Friend, we couldn't do our work without your support.
