Earlier this month, we asked you to share your candid thoughts and feelings with us about the current state of the Democratic Party, Justice Democrats’ 2026 candidates so far, and next year’s elections.

We received more than 1,300 survey submissions, and wanted to share a few key takeaways:

• Most survey-takers said they are EXCITED about the 2026 Democratic primary candidates that Justice Democrats has endorsed so far, with many specifically highlighting our most recent campaign launch, Justin J. Pearson in Tennessee’s 9th District.
• While most folks said they’re optimistic about the 2026 elections especially with our new candidates challenging corporate incumbents, many of you said you’re feeling pessimistic or expressed fear that Trump, the Supreme Court, and MAGA Republicans will deny the results or suppress voting rights so much that they undermine our voices and win.
• When asked if you feel like the Democratic Party represents you, the majority said, “No.” We can’t say we’re surprised, but it shouldn’t be that way — that’s why we’re working so hard to transform the Party from the ground up by electing more working-class, progressive leaders to Congress.
• Half of respondents said the Democratic Party is doing a good job fighting back against Trump, while the other half said the exact opposite. Across the board, most of you said more must be done to stop our country’s slide into authoritarianism.
• When asked which incumbents need to go, most of you said every Republican, plus any Democrats who are still taking money from lobbies like Oil and Gas, AIPAC, and Big Pharma, and putting corporate interests before the needs of the people. We couldn’t agree more!

With the midterm elections just over one year from now, we can’t let fascism and Democratic leaderships’ failures convince us to become hopeless and complacent. We can transform this Party to build our own response to the Trump administration with a new slate of working class champions to clean up shop in the Democratic Party.

There is no stronger opposition party than one for and by the people.
