Government Shutdown

As of today, the federal government is still “shut down” because Senate Democrats have failed to pass the clean continuing resolution the House passed, which I supported, roughly one month ago. Democrats are holding the federal government hostage to demand over $400 billion in continued subsidies to health insurance companies. Meanwhile, essential employees, including our service members, are missing a paycheck. It is wrong and immoral.   

I will continue to stand with Republicans and hard-working Americans who are struggling to afford health care and health insurance – not with big insurance companies or corporate welfare.

As long as I am in Washington, I will fight for the values of my constituents and put the taxpayer first.

Defending Western Civilization

America is facing an existential threat - the spread of Sharia Law. From Texas to every state in the union, instances of Sharia Law adherents have threatened the American way of life, seeking to replace our legal system and Constitution with an incompatible ideology that diminishes the rights of women, children, and individuals of different faiths.

Europe should be a wakeup call to America, showing what the spread of Sharia law looks like - the erosion of the West. America’s immigration system must be fortified to counter the importation of Sharia adherents – the preservation of our constitutional republic and its people depend on it.

Due to this attack on Western civilization, I introduced H.R. 5722, the Preserving a Sharia-Free America Act a month ago. This legislation would prevent foreign nationals who adhere to Sharia Law from entering or residing in the US.

Requesting Local Voices to be Apart of the Investigations of the July 2025 Texas Floods

Last week, I sent a letter to the Texas Senate Select Committee on Disaster Preparedness and Flooding to include local voices and community input as the committee investigates the July 2025 Central Texas floods.

It will be essential to ensure that local voices – including elected officials, camp operators, small business owners and first responders – are heard or incorporated into any findings or recommendations. Their insight will be critical to crafting policy that improves preparedness without stifling the local economy or undermining a century-old way of life in the Hill Country.
