Warren for Senate

Republicans secretly know that the American people hate their policies. They know their politicians are deeply unpopular. They know voters are sick and tired of watching Donald Trump spend money on his White House ballroom and private jet upgrades while cutting Medicaid and SNAP benefits.

Put simply, Republicans are worried that Americans will vote them out in the 2026 midterms.

But instead of offering up better, more popular ideas, they’ve decided to redraw Congressional maps in their favor. Donald Trump has been calling up Republican-controlled states, demanding they find ways to give the party more seats and total control.

This kind of blatant power grab can’t go unanswered. That’s why I’m behind California all the way on Governor Newsom’s responsible solution to Republican gerrymandering.

His Prop 50 proposes new lines to California’s congressional districts that level the playing field — adding five seats that lean Democratic to balance out Texas’s gerrymander that added five Republican-leaning seats.

But unlike Texas Republicans’ power grab, California’s Prop 50 is being determined by voters on a ballot — not by politicians in a shady backroom deal.

As Republican politicians work to silence voters through unprecedented mid-year redistricting, California voters have the opportunity to fight back.

With one week until Election Day, we need to ensure that we are connecting with every voter possible on this ballot initiative. Will you split a donation between Yes on 50 — Governor Newsom’s Ballot Measure Committee — and our campaign to fight back against Trump’s power grab?

I want to be clear: Redistricting should be independent, and I’ve long supported redistricting committees that take the politics out of redistricting.

That’s the standard for making sure voters pick their politicians, rather than the politicians picking their voters. That’s the long-term goal.

But Democrats can't live in a world anymore where we pretend that everybody is playing by the same set of rules. Right now, Republicans are determined to rig every rule they can, to break laws, and to ignore laws in order to be able to seize power and to hang on to it.

We have a responsibility to find creative, forceful ways to do something about these attempts to push us closer and closer to an oligarchy where voters are silenced and billionaires call the shots. We’re in uncharted territory here, and we have to fight like it.

California has the chance to fight back against this attempt to silence the will of the people. With early voting underway, will you split a donation between Yes on 50 and our campaign so that we can defend our democracy?

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
