Just recently, Becca joined her colleagues on the Judiciary Committee in Chicago to witness what’s happening in communities being terrorized by ICE. Families separated. Workers taken off the street. Kids afraid to walk to school.

What she saw wasn’t “law enforcement.” It was fear being weaponized against people just trying to live their lives.

This is what happens when those in power forget their humanity. Trump and his allies are using the machinery of government to sow fear, division, and chaos — on purpose. The cruelty is the point. And when they target one community, they’re really testing how much we’ll all tolerate before we say “enough.”

But Becca isn’t staying silent. She’s standing up for Vermont, for Chicago, for every family that deserves safety and dignity. Because she knows that our democracy depends on leaders who will tell the truth and refuse to look away.

Vermonters believe in fairness, compassion, and community. We don’t turn our backs when people are being hurt in our name. That’s what drives Becca every day. These are the same values she teaches her kids at home, carries into the halls of Congress, and brings into every room she walks into

This fight is about who we are as a nation and whether we still believe in basic decency. Becca is in this fight because she knows what’s at stake, and she won’t back down.
