If the Trump regime and Republicans in Congress get their way, millions and millions of Americans are about to see their health insurance costs skyrocket.* That’s because the Big Ugly Bill Republicans forced through earlier this year jacks up prices for the 24 million Americans covered by the Affordable Care Act (while giving even more tax breaks to billionaires and Big Business).

Republicans are so bent on making Americans pay even more for health insurance that they have chosen to shut down the government — and, in the case of the House of Representatives, essentially abandon their posts — rather than even try to work with Democrats and do something to keep costs from absolutely exploding.

As if that’s not bad enough, the Trump regime is also actively concealing the coming rate increases from the American people. Their thinking seems to be that if we don’t know how hard we’re about to get hit, they can get away with hitting us as hard as they want to.

The regime is keeping the American people in the dark in two devious ways:

1. The Trump administration is refusing to publish the coming rate increases on the main government website where millions of Americans get their insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

2. The Trump administration told companies that provide insurance under the Affordable Care Act that they could delay sending information about the coming rate increases to their customers.

To recap, the Trump regime and congressional Republicans want to make millions of Americans pay twice as much for health insurance, but they are such cowards they are trying to keep it all secret.

The person in the administration in charge of all this is Mehmet Oz, the former television “personality” and losing Senate candidate who Donald Trump installed to run the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

If the Trump regime thinks it’s fair to double health insurance costs for millions and millions of Americans, why are you so afraid to give the American people the information they need to make informed decisions about their coverage and their budgets? As director of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, you should immediately publish complete cost information on the main government website used by millions of Americans covered by the Affordable Care Act.

Thanks for taking action.

*Of course, healthcare costs in America are already shockingly and unnecessarily high, as the United States remains the sole wealthy nation that still doesn’t guarantee coverage for its citizens and instead allows healthcare to be a privatized, for-profit enterprise.
