Friend — This is the GOP’s new strategy.

Republicans can’t compete with the rising tide of progressives like myself and Zohran Mamdani who are turning Americans away from the GOP’s anti-immigrant, pro-billionaire, fear-mongering politics and towards a positive vision of the future where every American can thrive.

So, they abuse the law and their own power as elected officials to threaten and to silence and punish their opponents rather than beating them at the polls. It’s par for the course given the Republican party’s complete capitulation to authoritarianism under Trump’s second term.

The truth is, Kathy, I don’t know how far these efforts will go. Randy Fine and other far-right members of Congress have already threatened me, like Zohran, with denaturalization. Rep. Brandon Gill started a petition calling for my deportation. Senator Tommy Tuberville sent his supporters a fundraising pitch asking them to buy me a ticket back to Somalia. Trump himself even claims that he asked the President of Somalia to “take her back.”

But no matter what these little wannabee-dictators throw my way, it will not shake my commitment to fighting their far-right agenda and pushing forward our movement for an affordable life and justice for all.

They want to deport me and Zohran because they are afraid of us. They are afraid of the powerful grassroots energy we are building all across the country, from Minneapolis to New York City. They are so afraid that they feel the need to take these extraordinarily un-American steps to stop us in our tracks.

So, the best way you can help us prove that their attacks will not blunt our momentum is to become a sustaining part of this campaign by chipping in what you can today.
