HHS LAUNCHES SURGE TESTING SITE IN RIO GRANDE VALLEY

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are providing free COVID-19 testing in Edinburg as part of the federal government's surge testing efforts.

This new site will offer 5,000 tests per day and will be operational now through Tuesday, July 14th from 8AM to 6PM.

ALLOCATING $57 MILLION IN EMERGENCY EDUCATION RELIEF FUNDING FOR TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION

The State of Texas will invest $57 million in federal funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to maintain the state's need-based financial aid programs as we respond to COVID-19.

These funds will help Texas students stay on track to earn their degree during these challenging times.



HHSC EXTENDS EMERGENCY SNAP BENEFITS

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will provide $182 million in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits in July as the state continues to respond to COVID-19.

This extension helps ensure that Texans can provide nutritious food for their families during these unprecedented times.

REMEMBERING 5 DALLAS POLICE OFFICERS KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

This week we remember the five Dallas police officers who were ambushed and killed on July 7, 2016.

We will never forget their service and sacrifice.

TEXANS HELPING TEXANS: SERVE OUR HEROES

Four Dallas teens founded Serve Our Heroes, a non-profit that delivers meals to Veterans Affairs hospital workers on the frontlines of COVID-19.

Serve Our Heroes has raised $100,000 in donations and coordinated nearly 11,000 meals in the Lone Star State.
