Last week, Governor Mike Braun stood alongside Border Czar Tom Homan and Attorney General Todd Rokita at the Indiana Statehouse to call on lawmakers to pass the Fairness Act—legislation that would penalize employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

While Democrats in Washington continue to keep the government closed in a bid to demand healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants, Indiana is proving that conservative, pro-growth policies work.

Governor Braun promised to streamline government and cut costs, now Hoosiers are seeing the results. In September alone, the state brought in $2.3 billion in revenue ($107 million above projections), marking five straight months of better-than-predicted results. Moody’s Analytics reports that while 22 states are experiencing recessions, Indiana's economy continues to experience incredible growth.

The contrast couldn't be clearer, while Democrats in Washington hold veterans, law enforcement, and taxpayers hostage to score political points, Governor Braun and President Trump are delivering results—securing the border, protecting jobs, and driving economic growth.

Governor Braun Urges Lawmakers to Pass Fairness Act

Last week, Governor Mike Braun joined Border Czar Tom Homan and Attorney General Todd Rokita at the Indiana Statehouse to urge lawmakers to pass the “Fairness Act,” a proposal that would penalize employers who knowingly hire undocumented immigrants. Braun emphasized that the legislation is necessary to strengthen state enforcement after a similar bill failed in the Senate last session.

“Let’s get it over the finish line this time,” Governor Braun said. “Hoosiers deserve it.”

Indiana Revenues Surpass Expectations for Fifth Straight Month

Indiana’s September revenues reached $2.3 billion, exceeding projections by $107 million, or 4.9%, and marking the fifth consecutive month of stronger-than-expected collections. Year-to-date, the state has collected nearly $5.5 billion—$185 million above forecast.

“Our state’s monthly revenue report once again exceeds expectations—proof that the strong, pro-growth foundation built under President Trump continues to fuel our economy,” said Governor Braun. “We’ll keep building on that momentum to deliver results for Hoosiers through fiscal responsibility and conservative leadership."

Governor Mike Braun spoke at the Indiana Mental Health Roundtable, writing, "As we work to make healthcare more transparent and bring down costs, companies and individuals will be better equipped to prioritize mental health — something that has taken a back seat for far too long."

Senator Todd Young joined Senator Ron Johnson in introducing the Shutdown Fairness Act to ensure that hard-working Americans are paid during government shutdowns.

Senator Jim Banks urged the FDA to increase inspections of foreign drug manufacturing plants. He warned that inspections remain below pre-pandemic levels and called for strong oversight to prevent poor-quality drugs from entering the market.

Congressman Rudy Yakym commented on the hostage release following President Trump's peace plan between Israel and Hamas. He stated, “Today marks a new dawn for the Middle East and the world. After two horrific years in Hamas’ captivity, the hostages are finally home."

Congressman Marlin Stutzman introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2025 in the House, saying, "Implementing Sharia law and condoning the murder of innocent people is barbaric. We must use the targeted tools we have at our disposal to combat religious violence in all its forms."
