Trump administration working on doubling Argentina financing to $40 billion | PBS News

Trump saw the blowback to him bailing out Argentina with $20 billion worth of American taxpayer money and made a calculated and strategic decision: double it.

Trump Hopes Argentina Can Help Bring Down Beef Prices - The New York Times

Trump bailed out Argentina, the country taking over our farmers’ soybean markets, to the tune of $40 billion. Now he’s going even farther; he wants to buy their beef too.

Note From the Chair

Hey folks! Rita Hart here.

The shutdown is still in effect. Republicans refuse to compromise on the Affordable Care Act tax credits that thousands of Iowans rely on for affordable health care.

The Republican controlled House remains out of session, with Speaker Mike Johnson refusing to reconvene in order to avoid discussing a new funding bill. As well as to avoid a vote on releasing the Epstein files.

During this Republican-induced dysfunction the president of the United States is hard at work giving Argentina a 40 billion dollar bailout. Instead of fighting to keep health care premiums from skyrocketing, Trump is handing out taxpayer dollars to his buddies in another country.

Meanwhile, our own agricultural industry is in trouble. One of our soybean farmers’ main competitors is Argentina, who took over the massive Chinese market after China stopped buying our soybeans because of Trump’s trade war. We’re literally giving money to the country that’s helping to bankrupt our farmers. He also proposed importing beef from Argentina, a direct threat to America’s cattle farmers.

Our healthcare and our farmers’ livelihoods are on the line, and Democrats are fighting for them every step of the way. If you or your family could be impacted by rising ACA rates or farming difficulties, tell us your story here: Storyteller Sign-Up Form

Iowa Republicans are leaving working folks in the dust. It is getting harder and harder to make ends meet and Republicans are not doing anything to lower costs. Iowans deserve better. We need to elect leaders who will step up and make sure working families are getting the necessary medical care that allows them to live healthy lives. Sincerely,

Rita Hart
