The far-right Supreme Court is poised to gut the Voting Rights Act.^1
SCOTUS could issue a ruling before the midterms that would make it easier
for Trump and his allies to rig the midterms with hyper-partisan
gerrymandering and voter suppression.
At the behest of Trump, Texas and Missouri gerrymandered their already
racist, anti-democratic House district maps to favor Republicans even
more. Now, MAGA lawmakers in North Carolina and other Republican states
are trying to redo their gerrymandered maps to further tip the scales for
the GOP in 2026.^2
Democrats have introduced the Redistricting Reform Act to undo Trump’s
dangerous nationwide effort to rig the 2026 elections. Congress must act
quickly to pass this legislation to save voting rights and free and fair
elections.

The Redistricting Reform Act would block more Trump gerrymanders and
create independent redistricting commissions for each state.^3
“The democratic process can only work when everyone has the freedom to
cast their ballot safely and securely,” said one of the lead sponsors of
the legislation, Rep. John Larson. “Republican mid-decade redistricting
efforts are diluting the voices of Black and Hispanic voters for partisan
gain in a growing number of states.”^4
As Trump tries to steal the midterms with an array of executive actions
like trying to ban mail-in voting, trying to require proof of citizenship
to register to vote, and casting doubt on widely used voting systems,
Congress must take action. Redistricting reform is critical to stop one of
the fronts of Trump’s quest to rig the 2026 elections.
