We have conditioned ourselves to believe that it is normal for Members of Congress — who swore an oath to the people — to day-trade stocks and make millions of dollars with the sensitive information they are entrusted with.
But Abigail Spanberger knows: we must do everything we can to restore the American people’s faith in our institutions.
In Congress, Abigail and I worked with a bipartisan coalition to craft legislation that would ban congressional stock trading and demand better from our leaders.
Abigail is still demanding better — and now, she’s running for Governor of Virginia in the only election where we might flip a Governor's office from red to blue this year.
But this week, Trump endorsed her GOP opponent and started attacking Abigail.
Abigail first decided to enter public service when she saw her representative vote to repeal the healthcare coverage of hundreds of thousands of Virginians — and when she did, Abigail became the first woman ever to represent Virginia’s 7th congressional district, and the first Democrat elected there in over 50 years.
She led bipartisan efforts that were signed into law to prevent fentanyl overdoses, protect natural resources, and support veterans.
Abigail is truly a brawler for the working class. She’s committed to making Virginia more affordable for working-class families, strengthening public schools, and fighting against the division that the Trump administration is sowing in our communities across the country.
