Nearly half of today’s girls and young people live in the heart of conflict or on the frontlines of crisis. Their journey to adulthood is perilous, marked by the crushing consequences of disasters they did not create.
Girls living in areas affected by war, climate disasters, and other crises often lose access to essential services such as education and healthcare. They are at risk of child marriage, female genital mutilation, and violence. They receive humanitarian relief and food last, if at all.
Despite the unimaginable situations they’re living in, girls remain resilient and hopeful for the future. Some have lost everything, yet they continue to advocate, lead, and inspire change for themselves, their families, and their communities.
“I should have been in Grade 11 this year,” Elly from Namibia shared. “ That’s all I want, to go back and finish school.” At just 15 years old, Elly became pregnant for the first time and tragically, suffered a miscarriage and lost the baby. For girls like Elly, without access to transport, basic sexual and reproductive healthcare is out of reach.

At UNFPA, we are committed to helping every girl reach her fullest potential. Our programs in 32 crisis-affected countries empower girls by providing access to vital information, psychosocial support, and safe spaces where they can learn, express their concerns, and contribute to rebuilding their communities.
As one program participant shared, “My friends and I at the youth center have studied so much and worked on ourselves so that we can help the younger generation. We don't want them to feel what we felt and to deal with what we have.”
Your support is needed to continue these critical programs. Will you make a gift to ensure that every girl, no matter where she lives, can access the resources she needs to thrive? [[link removed]?]
