Since the summer, I’ve been sounding the alarm on how important it is for Congress to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits that have lowered health insurance costs for millions across our country and thousands in our congressional district. While I believe much more must be done to fix our health care system, it is clear that without the extension four million Americans will be priced out of their health care. Millions will forgo lifesaving care, and health insurance prices will go up for all of us.
I’m fighting every day for a bipartisan solution that will reopen the government and protect health care for millions of Americans. I rely heavily on the experiences of my constituents and their stories to aid me in this fight to protect health care and ensure that my colleagues fully understand the effects of taking away the ACA tax credits.
I know that to many of you, these tax credits could be the difference between having enough money to pay for health care, groceries, and rent, or having to make a choice between them. With that in mind, I’m asking you to share your health care story with me. If you’ve received your notice in the mail and want to share how you and your family are affected by rising health care costs, I encourage you to tell me here.
While the government remains closed, please know that I am continuing to work to bring Congressional Republicans back to the negotiating table to reopen the federal government as soon as possible. In the meantime, my office is open if you are in need of assistance.
