Republicans want to raid health care to fund tax breaks for billionaires and power their authoritarian agenda — we can’t let them get away with it.
I recently joined The xxxxxx to make something very clear about this government shutdown — and I need to make sure you hear it too.
This crisis didn’t just happen by accident. Republicans planned it. We all know they’ll stop at nothing to gut affordable health care, but at the heart of this shutdown, what they’re really after is something even darker: Control.
Because the GOP’s push to raid our health care is inextricably tied to their authoritarian power grab.
Trump made an unholy alliance in the last election with tech oligarchs and billionaires. He told them, “You fund my campaign, and I’ll pay you off with massive tax breaks.” And he’s doing just that — and paying for it by raiding people’s health care.
When we cut off his capacity to raid folks’ health care to fund tax cuts for billionaires, we’re also addressing his authoritarian consolidation of power.
That is why this fight is so important — our health care, our democracy, and the future of our country are all at stake. And it’s why I refuse to back down.
