I was deeply moved as I stood with tens of thousands of Coloradans — and nearly seven million people nationwide — who showed up to peacefully protest at a No Kings rally this weekend. Standing shoulder to shoulder with friends and neighbors, we saw historic turnout from Cortez to Grand Junction to Fort Collins to Lamar.

Two of my fellow Coloradans, Linda and Loretta, showed up on Saturday because they understand what we’re up against. They had a powerful message to share: This is a time to show courage.

"I didn’t march in the Civil Rights movement, so this is my time to stand up. This is my opportunity."

"You have to stand up, and now is the time."

We’ve seen for ourselves that our freedom of speech isn’t guaranteed — we need to defend it. That’s why I called on Coloradans to show up in record numbers for No Kings Protests on Saturday — and they did so.

We protested to stop a federalized National Guard from being deployed in Colorado, pitting Americans against Americans. We protested against any and all attacks on our gold-standard voting laws, including our right to vote by mail. And we protested against the threats and intimidation this administration keeps throwing at us.

As your Attorney General, I know what it takes to stand up to a bully. My office has taken Trump to court 39 times and counting, and we keep winning in the courts. Because when you’re up against a lawless bully, appeasing won’t get you anywhere. The only option is to stand up for what we believe in and fight like hell for it. I’m the only person running for governor who has stood up to Donald Trump at every turn — and whether we’re in the streets or in the courtroom, you can count on me to never back down from this fight.

Together, we’ll fight with courage. We’ll defend this republic. We’ll protect the rule of law. And we’ll make sure that here in Colorado, and all across America, there are no kings.
