Friends, let me be clear about something:

If Donald Trump sends the National Guard into San Francisco, I will sue.

The National Guard cannot be federalized and deployed for civilian law enforcement on American soil. That’s unlawful under the Posse Comitatus Act — a bedrock law dating back to when the King of England tried to use his troops to control the American colonies. 

But that’s exactly what Trump is trying to do in blue cities — and blue cities only! — in the United States of America. 

He’s abusing his power, treating U.S. troops like pawns in his political games, and violating the law — over and over again.

We cannot and must not stand by. That’s why I’m preparing to take legal action the moment he breaks the law again — and I’ll need you with me.

No kings, no tyrants.
