Friend – on Jan. 6, 2021, I was on the House floor when I heard pounding on the doors. Glass breaking. People yelling. Rioters had just breached the Capitol.
I texted my wife, Aly, who was then seven months pregnant with our second son: “Whatever happens, I love you.”
I took off my jacket and got ready to defend my colleagues against anyone who came through the door. Thankfully, it never came to that.
But shortly before all of this happened, where was my GOP opponent Ken Paxton? Speaking at Trump’s rally on the National Mall, disputing the results of the election and egging on the crowd.
He’d said, “We will not quit fighting.” Then, they marched to the Capitol.
Paxton is the leading GOP candidate for U.S. Senate here in Texas, and I’m working as hard as I can to defeat him. He’s a danger to our democracy, and he’s shown through his corruption and self-dealing that he’ll never put Texans first.
Polls show we can win – three different ones have me in the lead – but unlike Paxton, I don’t take any corporate PAC money. The only way I can stop him from making it to the Senate is with your support.
So please, will you chip in today to power our grassroots campaign, defeat Ken Paxton, and flip Texas blue for the first time in a generation?
Thank you,
