"Join over 1,700 people from 45 states and 19 countries at our inaugural Great Lakes Microplastics Summit! "
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is hosting the inaugural *Great Lakes Microplastics Summit [ [link removed] ], *taking place virtually on October 22. This free one-day event will bring together researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the region to network, share insights, and explore the latest findings regarding microplastics in both surface water and drinking water.
Microplastics can be found across the world, including in plants, animals, and people, as well as our physical environment. Because plastic does not easily break down in the environment, microplastics can build up in the environment for decades, causing concerns for wildlife and human health.
This Summit is a unique opportunity to hear from thought leaders, engage in Q&A sessions, and connect with colleagues who are shaping the future of microplastics research and management. Agenda highlights include fate and transport of microplastics, microplastic analysis methods, human and ecosystem health impacts, and interactions with other contaminants.
