I’ve been in politics long enough to have a thick skin, but this is different.
John, this is beyond unacceptable.
An elected member of the Arizona State House of Representatives just called for me to be “tried, convicted, and hanged.”
I’ve been in politics long enough to have a thick skin, but this is different.
This wasn’t just an attack on me. It was a call for violence against all of us who are organizing to defend our democracy and give people a voice. And it didn’t just come from some anonymous internet troll, but from an elected official — calling for my execution publicly.
We have to call this what it is: an attempt to silence our nonviolent organizing and make anyone afraid to protest against the Trump administration and the MAGA agenda.
But John, I refuse to be silenced. The irony is that our Resistance Lab trainings are rooted in the principles of nonviolent resistance. They give people a means to effect change without resorting to the exact sort of violent escalation that this elected official is calling for.
That’s why I will keep teaching and keep organizing — because nonviolent resistance is the most powerful tool we have to defeat authoritarianism, and it’s our best chance to build a democracy rooted in justice, dignity, and care for all people.
Over 15,000 people in all 50 states have participated in just 5 months — this success is exactly why they’re targeting us. So let’s show them we’re not backing down.
Click here to sign up for a Resistance Lab training today. Our next training will be a special session on immigration on October 19th, and we have trainings scheduled for November 16th and December 14th, too.

We can’t let threats of violence scare us into silence. Together, we will save our democracy.
