Dear John,
Recent News
These last couple of weeks haven’t been easy for our country. It’s easy to get caught up in the challenges and the things we’d like to fix, but we can’t lose sight of the fact that we live in the greatest state, in the greatest nation this world has ever known. I believe our best days are still ahead.
Even in Washington, that feeling is shared by many. When tragedies strike and times are hard, that’s when our communities and our nation come together. To unite as one, to solve our problems, and to face what comes next.
Galatians 6:9-10: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.”
D.C. Update
This month I had the opportunity to go back and visit the U.S. Naval Academy. It is always encouraging to see the midshipman around campus ready to serve our nation.

I also had the opportunity to visit Camp LeJeune with my fellow For Country Caucus Co Chairman, Congressman Don Davis.

Here is some additional legislation we recently passed:
- H.R. 4216 – Made-in-America Defense Act
Requires the Department of Defense to prioritize U.S.-made goods, materials, and products in its procurement process. This strengthens American manufacturing and supply chains while reducing reliance on foreign adversaries.
- H.R. 747 – Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act of 2025
Targets China’s role in the fentanyl crisis by expanding sanctions on Chinese entities involved in its production and trafficking. The bill strengthens law enforcement tools to disrupt the flow of fentanyl into American communities.
- H.R. 3486 – Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025
Directs the Department of Homeland Security to implement stricter enforcement measures at the southern border. It provides additional resources to secure the border and deter unlawful entry into the United States.
Recent Legislation that I have Cosponsored!
- H.R. 4964 – Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act
Requires that parents be notified before a minor is transported across state lines for an abortion. It upholds parental rights and seeks to prevent the circumvention of state laws.
- H.R. 4629 – Protecting American Energy from State Overreach Codification Act
Prevents states from imposing regulations that block the development of energy projects on federal lands. This ensures America can fully utilize its domestic energy resources.
- H.R. 309 – National Law Enforcement Officers Remembrance, Support and Community Outreach Act
Establishes programs to honor fallen officers and support their families while strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and communities. It underscores respect for the sacrifices of officers nationwide.
- H.R. 1422 – Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act of 2025
Expands sanctions on Iran to target its financing of terrorism and destabilizing military activities. The legislation seeks to cut off resources that threaten U.S. interests and allies.
- H.R. 4758 – Homeowner Energy Freedom Act
Prohibits federal agencies from restricting the use of natural gas in residential construction. It preserves consumer choice and protects affordable energy options for homeowners.
District Update
Unfortunately, I’m not able to be in two places at once, so it’s great to have my hardworking district team out in the community!

During my time back home I was able to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Midlothian Public Safety Building and Municipal Court.

Service Academy nominations for the Academy Class of 2030
Applications are now open for Service Academy nominations for the Academy Class of 2030. One of my greatest honors as a Member of Congress is nominating exceptional young men and women from Texas’s 6th Congressional District to our nation’s service academies. As a proud Naval Academy graduate, I have a deep appreciation for students pursuing a Service Academy education and a career in military service. The deadline to submit a nomination application to our office is October 17, 2025.
Please remember applying for a Congressional nomination is a separate process and must be completed alongside your direct application to the Service Academy.
Please email your completed application to [email protected] or mail your application to:
