I know your inbox is probably full of emails like this one asking for your support before Tuesday’s FEC deadline, but I hope you’ll give me just a moment to explain why I’m counting on you to chip in today.
As an Independent candidate running for U.S. Senate, it’s no surprise that we have to fight tooth and nail for attention, resources, and credibility. I knew from the start that we’d have our work cut out for us up against the war chests of national political parties.
But even though party bosses and political pundits tend to count out Independent campaigns like ours, I don’t regret my decision.
I’m running as an Independent because partisanship is ripping our country apart. Right now, the government is barreling toward a shutdown because Democrats and Republicans can’t come to an agreement. South Dakotans deserve better than partisan gridlock — they deserve leaders who will fight for and deliver on their promises.
Now this is where you come in: at the end of this month, we’ll have to submit a report to the Federal Election Commission showing our fundraising numbers. Pundits on both sides of the aisle, our supporters, and our opponents will pour over these numbers, and any slowdown could signal weakness to those looking to defeat our movement.
It’s imperative that we show everyone the strong, grassroots foundation behind our campaign. Will you chip in before our Tuesday deadline to show your support for Independent leadership?
