This isn’t the update I hoped to send — but I’ll always be transparent with you: I’m really worried.
Our grassroots fundraising has taken a bigger hit this summer than we anticipated. We had to cut our campaign projections in July and August. Now, we’re nearing the end of September, and we’re not on track to meet our monthly goal.
We’re also entering one of the most critical phases of this race. Our race is officially heating up — and we are legally required to report our campaign’s fundraising numbers for the LAST time before 2026 in just a few days. Everyone will see how much we’ve raised, and if we have the resources we need to compete against the MAGA forces and right-wing dark money that will flood this state to defeat us. And right now, we don’t.
As you know, I’ve never had the means to self-fund a campaign, and I don’t come from wealth. What I do have is this grassroots team — tens of thousands of folks like you who believe that New Mexico needs a governor who understands what it means to struggle and who will fight fiercely for our home and our people.
Our average online donation this month is $23. It’s that steady stream of people-powered support that allows us to build support across our beautiful state. It helps us pay for critical campaign investments, distribute literature, run digital ads, and connect with voters in the places that are too often ignored.
The reality is this: If we don’t have strong fundraising numbers, Donald Trump and Republicans will put millions of dollars into flipping this state. We can’t let this happen. That’s why I’m concerned, and it’s why I’m asking for your support today.
Thank you again for everything you’re doing to support our campaign. I know there is no obstacle we can’t overcome if we continue standing together.
Be fierce,
Deb
