Today is a somber day, when we honor the families of the fallen: Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day. It’s a day to honor and acknowledge those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country — and the families who loved them and miss them daily.

Since World War I, military families have flown flags displaying a blue star for every family member in active service and a gold star for those who have died in the line of duty. The gold star has since become a symbol of both profound loss and immense pride, representing the sacrifice, grief and ongoing healing of families of the fallen.

In honor of those who have given everything for our country, we're asking our supporters to show their gratitude — and stand in support of these grieving families. Will you sign the USO's card to honor our fallen heroes and Gold Star Families today?

Through the compassion and generosity of our supporters, the USO can continue the Families of the Fallen program, which has supported every dignified transfer of lives lost at Dover Air Force Base for the past 34 years. We help arrange travel and lodging for families to stay at Dover and witness the return of their loved one, providing around-the-clock support every step of the way.
