John —
One of our team’s internal core values is “compassionate candor.” It means
being honest with one another is the most caring thing you can do. And I
believe you deserve the same level of honesty from us.
So I want to say upfront: [ [link removed] ]I’m reaching out to ask you to contribute to
our campaign before Tuesday’s FEC deadline. We have an ambitious goal that
we need your help to hit.
Honesty is a form of respect. People like you are the backbone of this
campaign — there is no campaign without your support.
Yet too many politicians forget there are real humans on the other side of
these emails. They treat it like a transactional relationship. But I
won’t.
I care about the people who choose to support our campaign with their time
and money. It’s a big deal. I’m grateful for everyone who steps up to own
a piece of this movement.
So I want to try something different: compassionate candor.
We need to hit 6,500 donations before midnight to stay on track to hit our
fundraising goal before the FEC deadline.
The thermometer below is linked directly to our ActBlue and will update
every few minutes. Everybody will be able to watch how we’re tracking. You
can see for yourself whether we beat it or fall short.

This FEC fundraising deadline is important. But if we each give a little,
then we’ll hit our goal before you know it.
