Friday, July 3, 2020 Chairman’s Report Dear John, There is a crime wave spreading across our cities -- and especially in New York City, which is completely out of control under the leadership of Mayor Bill deBlasio. Thanks to the coddling of criminals, anti-police policies and the dangerous elimination of police funding, New York City is literally burning to the ground and is seeing a spike in gun violence which it hasn’t seen in decades. New York City shootings have skyrocketed by more than 127% compared with the same time period in 2019, and our Democrat leaders have responded by vilifying our law enforcement and pushing through a NYC budget that cut $1 billion in funding for the NYPD. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again -- I never thought I’d see the day when the Governor of New York State and the Mayor of New York City would wage a war against the NYPD. It’s disgusting and it’s dangerous. This week’s guests on our video town hall are no strangers to the importance of the NYPD, the incompetence of Mayor deBlasio and the actions being taken by leftist organizations throughout the City streets. It was a pleasure to have Bo Dietl and New York City Councilman Eric Ulrich join us to discuss the increase in crime and the mess that the Mayor has created. Bo is a former decorated NYPD detective, mayoral candidate, actor, and CEO, and Eric represents the 32nd District in Queens and has established a reputation as an honest, outspoken and independent voice at City Hall. It was a great conversation and I want to thank them for taking the time out their day to share their thoughts with us. If you were unable to join us, you can watch the town hall below. Last but not least, I want to wish everyone a safe and healthy Fourth of July -- and a big Happy Birthday to America! Sincerely, Nick Langworthy New York State Republican Chairman Watch Chairman Langworthy’s Weekly Video Town Hall Video: Chairman Langworthy Calls on the Legislature to Rein in Governor Cuomo's Power This week, Chairman Langworthy took the opportunity to go to the New York State Capitol Building in Albany, where he called on the NYS Legislature to get back to work. The Democrat legislative leaders need to step up and perform their constitutional duties that they were elected to do instead of allowing Governor Cuomo to carry on as a dictator. They have allowed the Governor to make arbitrary decisions with zero input from elected officials, and it is time for this to end. Click on the image below to watch. Candidate Spotlight: Rob Astorino We are very excited to have someone of Rob's caliber -- former Westchester County Executive and GOP gubernatorial candidate -- running for the State Senate. The comeback in New York is fully underway, and we look forward to flipping the State Senate red this November.
