Dear John,

When Erin was 20 weeks pregnant, a routine ultrasound showed her baby had a severe, life-
threatening congenital heart defect that is so rare, it affects just 0.02% of babies in the U.S.

"We were completely shocked. We had no frame of reference-he was our first baby. And to find
out essentially halfway through my pregnancy that he has a heart defect and is going to need
open heart surgery as soon as he's born was so scary."
