Let me give you a peek behind the curtain, John.

At the end of every fiscal quarter (EOQ), we file our fundraising reports with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC). Those reports show how much we raised and how many donors invested in us.

Two weeks later, those reports are posted publicly. AMeaning, anyone from journalists, to our opponents, to National Republican operatives can see how much financial support we have.

When reports go public, journalists and the media go crazy. They feverishly report who raised the most, which incumbents got outraised by challengers, and who raised less this quarter than last quarter.

This is all carefully orchestrated, John. If we raise less than last time, it looks like we don't have support or a viable campaign, and election watchers will begin to question whether we have a viable rite off our campaign.
