Hi John. Democratic Senate Candidate Raja Krishnamoorthi here. I know there’s a lot going on right now, and I’m sure you’re getting a lot of emails from candidates like me. But I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read this message to learn a bit more about me, and split a critical $25 donation now between me and Blue Amp Action to flip the Senate blue >>

Let me start by reintroducing myself. I’m a racial, religious, ethnic minority immigrant with 29 letters in my name. Growing up in Peoria, Illinois, I often felt like an outsider because of my identity.

My mother always dressed in a sari. My parents spoke Tamil, a South Indian language, most of the time. We ate different food than everyone around us — we even traveled with our rice cooker.

Despite our outward differences, the community in Peoria embraced us. I went to public schools in Peoria’s District 150 — there weren't a lot of people who looked like me playing sports back then, but I earned a starting spot on the football team my freshman year of high school.

My parents worked incredibly hard to give us a better life, but fell on hard times. So, we lived for a time in Public Housing to keep a roof over our heads and depended on SNAP to eat.

Thanks to these essential safety net programs, we were able to make it through. That’s something I’ll never take for granted.

With the help of my community, government programs, and the money I saved working at McDonald's – I went to college, and eventually graduated from Law School.

Growing up, every night at the dinner table, my father would say: “Think of the greatness of this country. Whatever you do, make sure this country is there for the next families who need it.”

Now, I’m raising my own family here in Illinois, and that’s the ethos I bring into Congress every day. Because every family – regardless of who they are, where they live, or how many letters are in their last name – deserves the chance to work hard and succeed.

Honestly, John, there aren’t a lot of people who look like me or have stories like mine in the Senate.

Donald Trump and his far-right MAGA maniacs don’t want to see folks like me succeed, let alone be elected to the U.S. Senate.

But I refuse to let people like them win. So now, I’m running for the United States Senate to hold Donald Trump accountable and fight for a better future for hardworking Americans.

John, if you’ve read this far, I hope I can count on you to join me in this fight. Please, before midnight, can you split $5, $25, or whatever you can afford between me and Blue Amp Action so we can hit our end-of-quarter goals and flip the Senate blue?

We cannot sugarcoat the current situation: Right-wing authoritarianism has infected democratic societies -- including ours. It is as simple as it is terrifying: What we do now will define the future of our country and world.

We at Blue Amp Action are dedicated to liberal, open societies, where reason and science are applied to solve our problems; where civil rights, including voting rights! are protected for all. We fight for these values every day. Speaking up on our platforms, raising the voices and the political prospects of liberal pols and pundits.

Democracy never sleeps, and neither can we.

So we ask that you support our work by chipping in anything you can spare, so we can continue to engage in this fight every moment of every day. So our kids grow up in democracy, not dystopia >>
