Folks, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said what is on the mind of many New Yorkers: “We have a Democratic nominee. Are we a party who rallies behind our nominee or not?"
Yet, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, the supposed “leaders” of the Democratic party, are throwing their own city to Trump’s wolves and they couldn’t care less.
Two of New York’s most powerful Democratic leaders are refusing to endorse Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for the mayor of New York City.
This isn’t just hypocritical, it’s dangerous.
Schumer and Jeffries are undercutting a rising star in the party who was able to galvanize young people, and speak to the issues that voters cared about. And they wonder why the Democratic establishment is so unpopular.
To put it simply, they are shooting our party in the foot. Mamdani is a dynamic, charismatic candidate unlike any the party has seen for years, and they should be uplifting him not tearing him down.
What happened to vote blue no matter who? Apparently that only applies when the Democratic nominee is a centrist corporate sellout.
