Team, we've been trying to write this email for hours - it's hard to know what to say.
Donald Trump just ordered a broad federal crackdown on so-called “political violence.” The order is broad enough to include people like us - you and me - who support the work of grassroots Democrats nationwide.
We are - obviously - not violent at all. But we know that's not what this is about.
It’s about silencing dissent, targeting nonprofits, and crushing anyone who dares to resist his extremist agenda.
This is authoritarianism, plain and simple. And if we don’t fight back, Trump will keep tightening his grip until there’s nothing left of our democracy.
We were a little bit scared to send this email. But then we realized - that's exactly what he wants. And we aren't going to give him the goddamn satisfaction. We've set a goal to activate 500 donors before the end of quarter fundraising deadline in a show of strength in the face of this fascist escalation - and we hope you'll stand with us. Contributions or gifts to The Real Texas PAC are not tax deductible. Contributions from corporations, labor organizations, treasury funds, and federal government contractors are prohibited. Only U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents are eligible to contribute. An Individual can contribute up to $5,000 to The Real Texas PAC per calendar year. Married couples may together give a total of $10,000 per calendar year. Federal political action committees (PACs) can contribute up to $5,000 per calendar year. The first $5,000 contributed in a calendar year from federally permissible sources will be deposited in The Real Texas PAC's contribution account. Once a federally permissible source has contributed $5,000 in a calendar year, The Real Texas PAC will transfer any amounts in excess of $5,000 to its non-contribution account.
