John, it’s been a long month, and I don’t know about you, but I am ready to stand up to the Trump administration and fight to protect our rights and freedoms.
Voting rights have been and always will be the bedrock of our democracy. Whether it is making voting by mail harder, imposing more voter ID restrictions, or redrawing congressional districts to favor one party — the Trump administration is deliberately silencing our voices and eroding our rights. But we can work together to start undoing the damage.
This Tuesday, September 30 at 5:00 pm EST, we’re hosting Suppressing the Vote: The Trump Admin's Threat to Voting Rights, where we’ll dive deep into this administration's regressive voting rights policies and what we can do about them.
We are equipping as many people as possible with the information they need to join this fight. Here are just some of the ways this administration is undermining our voting rights:
🗳️ This summer, Trump announced he would issue an executive order to ban mail-in voting — calling it “corrupt” despite the fact that he has mailed in his ballot before. This would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters.
🗳️ Texas has already passed legislation to redraw its congressional maps to favor Republicans and maintain the majority. Missouri, Kansas, and others are trying to follow Texas’s lead. People should choose their leaders, not the other way around.
🗳️ House Republicans passed the SAVE Act, which would create unnecessary barriers to voting for millions of eligible Americans. Right now, it is stalled in the Senate — but we need to make sure it doesn’t move forward.
Our democracy is so special because all eligible citizens have the right to vote, regardless of where they live, what they believe, or what they look like. That’s why we’re building a nationwide coalition including people like you who refuse to be silenced.
If you’re ready to join the movement to protect voting rights, please join us on Tuesday, September 30 at 5:00 pm EST, for our workshop: Suppressing the Vote: The Trump Admin's Threat to Voting Rights, and bring a friend!
It’s not a question of whether we should stand up for voting rights, John. We have to — or we lose them. We need you in this fight!
